Colorful Feast
A colorful feast for the eyes at least. Most of the fruit on these untended volunteer apple trees is not good to eat, but they sure are pretty to look at, especially with the sky in the background. Sometimes they stay on the trees long after the leaves have left and the trees are decorated with apples in the snow.8x10 oil on canvas

Fifth of July
I painted this from a photo I took of the clean and empty Water Sreet the day after the fourth of July. The contrast between the two days is quite remarkable. The street is a zoo on the 4th. All of the colors were soft and pastel looking. The buildings and windows reduced to small strokes and blocks of color, when looked at from this angle. 8x10 oil on canvas

So sometimes life gets in the way of art! So, if anyone was wondering why I haven't posted anything lately, that is the reason. I have been working on a larger painting of boats that i am not very happy with, and then I get discouraged. Later today I will have a new painting to post so don't give up on me!

Take Me!
There is something I love about the shapes of these row boats all pointing in different directions. I love painting boats. They are sort of shaped like chickens!

Busy Day

I painted these chickens down at Peter Small's. Two loose geese were nibbling at my legs and feet the entire time until scared them away with the lid of my pallet, and of course the chickens wouldn't keep still, so it has a bit of an abstract quality to it.

Old Eastport Firetruck
.I went out to Quoddy Village today with Marty and we painted this truck. It has such a nice color and shape to it. I found the shadow on the side to be a challenge, but am happy with it.

Backyard Barn
This is the scene from my back yard. It never fails to nourish me when I look at it. It doesn't belong to me, but it is mine. The sun always sets behind the trees and the sky looks amazing on many evenings. Soon it will be covered with snow, but I won't think about that.

South End apples
Eastport has hundreds of neglected apple trees on the island. I have always been attracted to painting them. This is my first attempt. These apples are bigger than most, but tart. This one is actually on my mother in law's property and she likes to make apple sauce with them. This painting is for sale on e-bay.
