Hi Lisa, the shapes and shadows are really intersting. I feel actually like painting something like that. Just an artist to artist critique: I think if you eliminate the chicken on the top right and the grass on the bottom, the composition would be stronger. Having said that, I think your subject matter is great, and I am happy you are enjoying these paintings..
Hi Rabea, Thanks for the suggestions. Sometimes I don't know if the composition is optimal or not, especially when I do them quickly, and I don't have any feedback. Chickens are fun, you should try some in water color.
I would love to paint those chickens in watercolor. But, I think it is difficult to paint something if you don't experience it...You probably have seen those chickens, observed them, and got a feeling from them. I think it is hard to be an artist if you do not experience your subject matter. I think few of my best paintings I did in 2006 and 2007 were landscapes of places I have been to, a storm, hay stacks...etc.And they stirred a certain feeling or emotion! Now, I am running between work and the house duties, so I am unable to completely immerse myself in the artist experience. I guess I am complaining again, but I wish I could paint almost every day again!!
Rabea, I know it is very difficult when you have so many other things going on in your life, but something that is so important to you can't be denied. You will find a way. Lisa
I live in Eastport, Maine with my husband and four children. We have a wonderful life here and I am constantly inspired to paint the beauty that surrounds me.
